Why work in a group

There are things we discover alone, and things that become clearer in company.
A group can help us recognise patterns more easily, feel less isolated in what we are carrying, and witness how differently — and similarly — people make meaning. Because the group is limited to five people, it also avoids the peculiar atmosphere of larger online spaces where half the participants are muted, one person is battling their broadband, and everyone is pretending this is perfectly natural.

Why only five people

Because five is a good number.
Small enough for trust to develop.
Small enough for each person to be seen. Small enough that reflection does not get lost in the general bustle. A smaller group creates the kind of atmosphere that we love; thoughtful, spacious, connected and alive!

Join a group

If you are looking for a creative space that feels intimate, intelligent and gently held, these online groups offer a place to begin. You do not need certainty, nor artistic confidence. Just a wee bit of curiosity, and the rest will take care of itself.

How the space is held

The groups are shaped to feel warm rather than clinical, intimate rather than overwhelming, and creative rather than performative. There is room for complexity here, but no requirement to arrive as a fascinatingly tragic masterpiece or to be unusually brilliant on Zoom.
You are allowed to simply be a person with a mind, a life, and perhaps a few unanswered questions.

"The result I’m most proud of isn’t a breakthrough.
It’s the moment someone laughs with joy at their own “terrible” drawing and realises they haven’t judged themselves in ten minutes."
